Porvorim: The state cabinet on Monday granted its approval to the Goa Geospatial Data Infrastructure (Management, Control, Administration, Security and Safety) Bill, 2023, to help reduce the time taken to share essential data across government departments and also to regulate the usage of such geospatial data.

The bill aims to create, update, manage, monetise, disseminate and share Goa’s geospatial data, geospatial system, geospatial application and geospatial portal of the land revenue records and public utilities — including road, water, sewerage, electricity, telecommunication, internet services — and other service utilities, property details, property ownership, land use /land cover and tracking services.

The IT department aims to provide a robust and reliable GIS (Geographic Information System)-based decision support system to the state authorities and citizens by integrating GIS data and the e-governance system.
